Venus, Cobalt variation
The Cobalt aluminate used in this painting has been through a forced chemical oxidation to obtain a greenish hue, erasing its original blue colour. This painting revisits Alexandre Cabanel work, where the Birth of Venus intertwines with the disappearance of a colour in favour of its chemical properties used for battery manufacturing, highlighting the industrial overexploitation of Cobalt and the water pollution it generates.
